Panasonic Announces Eco Ideas Declaration

Panasonic Corporation of North America announced last week that it is stepping up its commitment to pursue eco-innovation in both its products and business practices.

Summarizing its commitment to environmental sustainability in an “Eco Ideas Declaration” pledge, Panasonic aims to become the number one green innovation company in the electronics industry by 2018, which is when the company will be celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The Eco Ideas Declaration provides specific goals for North America in two core areas of Panasonic’s overall Green Innovation strategy:

PWW Releases Results of Global Survey on Sustainability Strategies

Back on February 22, I wrote about my mixed feelings regarding the results of a McKinsey Global Survey that looked at how companies view climate change. On the one hand, there was the positive: 60 percent of companies polled regarded climate change as strategically important. But, on the other hand, there was the less-than-positive: more than 33 percent of the responding firms stated that they “seldom or never” consider climate change when developing their strategies.
