Best Buy Releases 2010 Sustainability Report

The past few weeks have been chock full of news about successful sustainability initiatives at global corporations. (For a few examples, see previous posts about  Unilever and MillerCoors.)

Now, Best Buy Co., Inc., is joining in, too, with the release of its 68-page 2010 Sustainability Report, which according to the company, underscores a year of “remarkable success” in implementing sustainability initiatives that emphasize two primary areas of focus: people and power.

LG and Waste Management Announce Program to Recycle Hotel TVs and Computer Monitors

The leading provider of flat-panel HDTVs to the lodging industry, LG Electronics USA, Inc., and the nation’s leading recycler, Waste Management, Inc. have teamed up to offer the first ever recycling program for hotel television sets and computer monitors. The program is planned for launch in 2010.

Samsung Recycles 12-millionth Pound of e-waste in 2009

With a tip of the hat to America Recycles Day (which was yesterday, November 15, in case you missed it), Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced last Friday that during this month, it has recycled its 12 millionth pound of e-waste for the year.

This milestone was achieved through Samsung Recycling Direct©, the company’s 50-state recycling program, which allows consumers to drop off their consumer electronics products at over 200 permanent drop-off centers in the U.S. (more…)
