More Than Three-fourths of Consumers Say It’s Important for Companies to be Socially Responsible

More than three-fourths of consumers say that it is important for companies to be socially responsible, according to the second annual Corporate Social Responsibility Perceptions Survey, conducted by research-based consultancy Penn Schoen Berland in partnership with brand consulting firm Landor Associates and strategic communications firm Burson-Marsteller.

Study Shows Companies Post Online Sustainability Info, Need to Improve Timeliness

It’s becoming increasingly commonplace for companies to present environmental information on their websites, but most can do better on data substance and timeliness, according to new research from AltaTerra Research.

The new report, “Greening the Company Website: A New Era in Sustainability Reporting,” details the results from a study of the websites of 60 recognized corporate sustainability leaders, representing 13 different industries.

In today’s global economy, companies are not only expected to perform financially; they’re expected to be good corporate citizens, as well. Stakeholders are demanding accountability with regard to social and environmental performance, and corporate social responsibility programs are quickly becoming an essential component of corporate success. I’ve certainly noticed the trend toward more corporate responsibility reporting, and I’m sure you have, too. But, just how widespread is the use of CSR reports, and what strategies are being established to support CSR accountability and transparency? A recent survey by KPMG offers some interesting answers.
