WEC and IMD Form Partnership to Advance Sustainable Business Solutions
Two leading non-profit sustainability institutions –the World Environment Center (WEC) and the Center for Corporate Sustainability Management at IMD –have joined forced to form a partnership that will assist global companies in implementing sustainable development in their business strategies and operations.
Announced last week, the new partnership aims to:
- Conduct joint forums and roundtables on selected leadership topics, specifically those that advance the ability of global companies to develop solutions that create business value and address the needs of civil society.
- Organize training activities to advance learning and competency development in such areas as advancing innovation through sustainability management.
- Expand the capacity of both organizations to deliver additional value for their respective memberships through supply chain management, achieving greater scale in sustainability management and identifying emerging issues.
- Prepare sustainability advisory services to global companies in key areas of business management.
Now that factors such as globalization, impending regulations, climate risks and evolving stakeholder expectations are making the business case for sustainability stronger than ever before, I think we are going to see more and more companies looking for this kind of guidance. This partnership, in particular, represents a great opportunity for organizations to learn more about how to integrate practical, sustainable solutions into their overall business strategies.
