NASDAQ Launches New Global Sustainability 50 Index

Yesterday, the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) and the CRD Analytics announced the launch of the NASDAQ OMX CRD Global Sustainability 50 Index (Nasdaq:QCRD). This new index allows investors and other stakeholders to track the performance of
organizations that are emerging as leaders in sustainability
performance reporting because it includes companies that have voluntarily disclosed fundamental indicators, such as their carbon footprint, energy usage, water consumption, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, employee safety, workforce diversity, management composition and community investing.

Food: Consumers Prioritize Fresh Ingredients and Green Packaging Over Taste, Convenience

What do consumers want companies to concentrate on when they’re developing new food products? Taste? Convenience? Calories? The answer may surprise you. According to a new study conducted by Ipsos Marketing, Consumer Goods, the top three things consumers want from food manufacturers are: fresher ingredients, increased health benefits, and more environmentally friendly packaging.

A.T. Kearney Study Finds Procurement Leaders Excel at Risk Management and Sustainability

Two things jumped out at me while I was reviewing the results of A.T. Kearney’s recently released 2008 Assessment of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) study.

First, the study found that procurement leaders are placing a high priority on risk management. Whether they’re using internal risk mitigation strategies or mega-trend analysis, AEP leaders seem to agree that supply risk and performance management are becoming increasingly critical in today’s complex global supply chains.

Second, this latest A. T. Kearney analysis also shows that sustainability has emerged as a hallmark of procurement excellence. A whopping 89% of AEP leaders have procurement sustainability plans in place; many have comprehensive sustainability programs that are integrated into their overall corporate strategy.

“On Paper” Podcasts Feature Sustainability Pros

Marine Litter Poses Global Challenge for Business
