Dell Ranks Number One in New Corporate Sustainability Index Benchmark Report
Congratulations to Dell for its first place finish in the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) Benchmark Report for 2009, an analysis completed by Technology Business Research (TBR).
The report measured more than 100 discrete sustainability factors (such as emissions, energy, renewable energy, annualized emission reductions, water use, recycling rates, and public environmental commitments) of 40 companies in the computer hardware, software, professional services and network and telecommunications sectors. Dell finished well ahead of the pack, scoring particularly well in renewable energy use, recycling and its integration of a sustainability strategy in its business.
The complete CSI report will be available from TBR on June 1.
You can read more about Dell’s commitment to corporate responsibility on their website. The company’s 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report is a 112-page document that details Dell’s achievements and challenges as it works to emerge as “the greenest technology company on the planet.” Their environmental policy includes guidelines for product design, purchase and use, and recovery and recycling, as well as specifics regarding sustainable manufacturing and operations. For instance, Dell now powers its global headquarters campus with 100 percent green energy and is optimizing its logistics network to reduce fuel, packaging, and carrier use.
